ABOUT SMCI

An institute where minds are developed, not merely degrees conferred.

Shakoor Mind Care Institute was founded by Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor, a psychiatrist and professor of behavioural science, and is built beside his working psychiatric hospital in Bahawalpur. We exist at the intersection of clinical depth, international education, and an unwavering belief in human potential.

OUR MISSION

Develop the mind, and the future follows.

We hold that a developed mind is the most enduring asset an individual can possess. Our mission is therefore not simply to confer qualifications; it is to develop minds: to take a student's potential and give it real clinical grounding, globally recognised credentials, and a path to a future they could not have reached independently. We pursue this mission where it is most authentic: inside a functioning psychiatric hospital, under a faculty led by a psychiatrist who has devoted his career to developing minds.

01

Clinical Psychology

Our clinical core, and our deepest advantage. Students learn assessment, intervention and case work through supervised exposure inside a real psychiatric hospital, at a depth no classroom-only programme can offer. This is where the institute's commitment to rigour is most evident.

02

International Education

We open the world to South Punjab. Through UK Ofqual-regulated diplomas and structured progression routes, a student can earn most of a UK degree here in Bahawalpur, making a global qualification accessible to families it once excluded entirely.

03

Developing Minds

Everything we do rests on one conviction: minds can be developed, and education is how. From a child in a coding class to a physician refining clinical skill, we treat every learner as a mind with untapped potential, and our responsibility as developing it.

OUR STORY

A college built beside a hospital. By design.

Most colleges teach psychology from a textbook. Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor chose to teach it from life. After 36 years as a psychiatrist and Professor of Behavioural Science, treating patients and training successive generations of students, he had observed the gap clearly: graduates who could define a disorder but had never sat with a real patient, never witnessed recovery unfold, never learned where clinical work actually happens.

So he took an uncommon step. On his own land, beside his working psychiatric hospital, he built an institute close enough that students could learn the mind where the mind is genuinely cared for. Today, students intern in that hospital, learn under practising clinicians, and graduate with something a classroom cannot provide: real exposure to real care.

From that clinical foundation, the institute grew outward: UK-recognised diplomas, international pathways, community certificates, and courses for young learners. The spine, however, has never changed. It is, first and always, a mind-care institute: a place that believes developing minds is the most important work there is.

OUR PRINCIPAL

Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor

Principal & Founder, Shakoor Mind Care Institute

A psychiatrist, a Professor of Behavioural Science, and the founder of this institute. Across 36 years he has pursued two objectives without interruption: treating the minds of patients, and developing the minds of students. He remains in active practice and consultation, and he leads SMCI on the conviction that has shaped his entire career: that education is how human potential is unlocked, and that minds, given the right foundation, can achieve virtually anything.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The convictions behind everything we do.

Develop minds, not merely credentials

A qualification is a by-product. The real work is developing the mind that earns it.

Learn where it is real

Clinical learning belongs in a clinical setting, not only in a lecture hall.

Global reach, local roots

A student in Bahawalpur deserves a path to the world, without leaving their family to find it.

Education is the great equaliser

The right education transforms disadvantage into opportunity. That is the work we have chosen.
